What is E-Bike?

What we usually call E-Bike refers to the electric-assisted bicycle, which originally originated in Japan and later developed and grew in Europe. According to EU regulations, related products are usually divided into three main categories:Pedelec, S-Pedelec and E-Bike.

Pedelec is Pedal Electric Cycle. This model is usually only when actively pedaling, the motor will assist the rider, so it is also called a semi-pedaling electric bicycle, or "E-Bike" in the sense we are now talking about. The pedal assist of the Pedelec can meet the special requirements of different users by using different assist modes, usually divided into gears according to the strength of the assist, and some brands differentiate the gears according to the application scenarios, such as flat road, off-road, climbing, and downhill. Of course, the degree of assist will affect the range of motor assist and the energy consumption of the battery. The rated power and speed limits for Pedelec bicycles also vary by country. According to EU standards, the power rating of the motor of a Pedelec must not exceed 250 W. After reaching a speed of 25 km/h, the power is automatically turned off, and if it falls below this speed, the power is automatically turned on again. Some Pedelec bicycles also have a push assist system, which can be activated at the push of a button when the rider is pushing, and the bike will move forward at a speed that matches the walking speed, making pushing easier and less stressful.

The S-Pedelec is a high-speed version of the Pedelec, also known as a high-speed electric bicycle. It works in the same way as a regular Pedelec. The difference is that the S-Pedelec has a higher power rating and power-off speed threshold, also according to EU standards, the maximum power rating of the S-Pedelec is increased to 500W, and the motor will only disconnect when the speed exceeds 45km/h. Therefore, in Germany, the S-Pedelec is classified as a light motorcycle under traffic law, so it is mandatory to purchase insurance and obtain a permit to use this model. They are also required to wear a "suitable" protective helmet, must be fitted with reflectors, and must not occupy bicycle lanes. Under certain conditions, Pedelec bikes can be transformed into S-Pedelec by changing the speed limit with a brush program; of course, most private modifications will run afoul of local and national regulations, so please do not take the risk.

The third category of the electric bicycle is the E-Bike model, which is short for ElectricL Bike. The biggest difference between the E-Bike and the power-assisted bicycle is that the vehicle is driven by an electric motor even without pedaling, and some E-Bikes can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h when started by a throttle handle or button. So in Europe, E-Bikes are classified as light motorcycles and require insurance and licensing. Some riders may ask, "How can an E-Bike be an electric donkey? In fact, in everyday language, "E-Bike" can also be used to refer to Pedelec and S-Pedelec models, and this usage is especially common in the sports bike segment. Over time, the original attributes of the ElectricL Bike slowly faded away and gradually became what we now call "E-Bike", or "electric-assisted bicycle".

Comfortable to ride and has fat tires to go anywhere!

ReAspire-Knight is so great and really fun to ride. I’ve tried out a few different electric bikes and this is my favorite. It goes up to 32 miles per hour and is stable. I like the green color it has and how fat the tires are. It is easy to learn how to use the controls and they are very convenient to see. Great brakes and comfortable seat.
